Moving from Cellular Conciousness

This is a practice of deeply sensing into the kind of awareness that cells have, presently attending to changes at the surface of the self, on the boundary with the other. Through gentle, still touch I bring your awareness to parts of the body and their inherent life force, independent of the nervous system. This is often experienced as deeply restful. This state of rest makes available previously suppressed metabolic processes, yielding fresh energy, that - eventually, after enough rest - wants to move in unhabituated, explorative ways. I will follow you in that movement, offering just enough resistance to help you sense your movement through space and keep you safe. This movement is informed by my continual practice of contact improvisation. During this exploration I may offer a type of imagery called embodied anatomy that brings alignment between the mind, which otherwise may wander and judge, and the cellular processes that the mover is growing to be able to sense. Sensing our cells’ life is a powerful way to reconnect with the very early inner child.
